ID card issuance for non-Bahrainis not registered with LMRA

This service provided by the Information and eGovernment Authority allows residents such as the Bahraini's wife, children of Bahrainis, diplomatic entities, golden residency holders, and others, allows for the issuance of a personal number and ID card for the first time, renewal or for a replacement ID card in case of loss/damage, or for changing the ID card in case changing the photo or any of the information printed on the surface of the card.

Service Conditions

  • An original valid passport.
  • A valid residency
  • The applicant must be present within the Kingdom of Bahrain
  • A recent personal photo that meets the specified requirements.
  • A correct residential address that meets the requirements
  • To issue an ID number for the first time, present the entry visa issued by Nationality, Passports & Residence Affairs
  • For embassy workers and their dependents: A request number from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is required.
  • Individuals aged 10 and above with no registered biometric data in the civil record system, must schedule an appointment and attend front offices or through urgent service office.
  • For the wife of a Bahraini citizen or the husband of a Bahraini citizen: Present the original marriage contract, authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, Islamic affairs & Waqf if issued outside Bahrain.
  • For dependents visa: Relationship data must be registered by providing and authenticating original documents (marriage certificate/birth certificate) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain
  • The request can be applying through the following E-services "Family ID Card Services" or "ID Card Issuance Services" and tracking the request through the "Edit and Request Status Enquiry" service.
  • The request can be submitted through the service centers by booking an appointment in advance via the National Portal of the Kingdom of Bahrain through the 'booking and inquiry about appointment' service or by calling 80008001.
  • The request can be submitted by visiting the urgent service office at one of the service centers without an appointment during working days from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

General requirements for the residential address

  • The property classification must be residential and the electricity and water account must be active in all cases.
  • Who has an active electricity account for a residential address must update his address with family members to the address that has the same account number
  • The residential address cannot be changed from owned property to a rented address unless there is proof of rental, sale, or an issued building or renovation permit from the municipality
  • Renting a residential address, the electricity account must be activated under the tenant or providing an address certificate issued by the municipality if the lease agreement mentioned that electricity account under landlord, ensuring that the landlord is not registered at the same address in the ID and population registry system
  • The guarantor can provide a residential address for the applicant
  • Proof of kinship must be provided with official documents if the applicant wishes to live with a Bahraini.
  • If an individual does not have a residential address and want to update their address to one of their relatives, Declaration of Accommodation must be signed by the owner of the address according to specific requirements
  • For the investor: The residential address must be in his name or belong to first-level relative, or to his partner in the CR, provided that the marital status matches.

Identity Card Photo Requirements

  • The photo must be colored with a white background.
  • The photo must be recent and not more than six months old.
  • The photo must capture the head and the top of the shoulders up close, with the face occupying 70% to 80% of the image.
  • The photo must be printed if applying the request through service canters.
  • The photo must be as a digital copy with specific stander if applying the request through E-services.

Legal Regulations

  • Decision No. 16 of 2011 amending some provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Identity Card Law.
  • Resolution No. (3) of 2008 and its amendments concerning the provision of additional services for the issuance of an identity card and the fees prescribed therein.

Service Processes

  • Application for issuing an ID card can be submitted through the "ID Card issuance services" or "family services".
  • Upload a digital personal photo aligned the requirements without any modifications.
  • Fill out the required details and attach the required document.
  • The request will be processed within two working days.
  • The request can be tracked through the “Edit and Request Status Enquiry” service.
  • The ID card will be delivered to the post office at the day after the request is approved.

Steps to applying the request by booking an appointment in advance
  • Booking an appointment in advance via the National Portal of the Kingdom of Bahrain through the 'ID Card Appointments Booking and Enquiry' service or by calling 80008001.
  • Go to the selected service center according to the date and time of the scheduled appointment.
  • Take a waiting number.
  • Proceed to the desk based on the waiting number.
  • Provide a valid original passport, a printed personal photo according to the requirements, and any additional documents if necessary.
  • Processing the request by the specialist to check all procedures and requirements.
  • If the request is approved, the fees will be paid, and the transaction will be completed.
  • If the requirements and procedures are not met, the specialist employee will inform the client about required procedures or documents.
