Update ID and civil record information for citizens
This service, provided by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), allows individuals to update ID card chip data and civil record details in Bahrain's population registry, including (work details / residential address / education / marital status / head of family and family connections information / birth certificate data / marriage and divorce records / death records / religion fingerprint and signature), Some of this data exists in the ID card chip and statement.
Service Conditions
- To update the ID Card chip, the passport & ID card must be valid.
- To update the ID Card chip, the ID Card must be valid.
- To update the ID Card chip, the residential address must be correct.
- Any documents issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- You can submit a request to update the ID card and civil registry data through the online service.
- The ID card chip can be updated by making an appointment at one of the service centers or through self-service kiosks.
- If the information's need to update is printed on the surface of the ID card, applicant must apply for a card issuance.
- Clearance agents or relatives who apply the request must present the applicant's valid passport or issue an electronic authorization.
- To register biometric data (fingerprint/signature), you must make an appointment to visit one of the identity card service centers.
- For children under 21 years old from divorced parents, a custody certificate issued by the Ministry of Justice, Islamic affairs and Waqf must be provided, which should not exceed six months from the date of issuance, or the custody agreement form between the parties available from the Civil Status and Identity Administration can be filled out.
- If the updated data does not appear in the ID card chip, there is no need to update the chip.
Requirements for updating education
- Graduation certificate if the educational institution is within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
- Certificates issued from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain; the authenticity of the certificate must be verified through specialized companies that are recommended by the Ministry of Education.

- Public sector employees registered with the Civil Service Commission must register through the Social Insurance Organization
- Private sector employees must register work details with SIO.
- Employees in the public sector not related with the civil service should check with their employeer for the registration process.
General requirements for update residential address
- The property classification must be residential and the electricity and water account must be active in all cases.
- The head of the family who has an active electricity account for a residential address must update his address with family members to the address that has the same account number.
- Individuals with a housing unit from the Ministry of Housing must be registering the same unit.
- In the case of owning a housing unit provided by the Ministry of Housing, the property ownership must be registered in the addresses department. If the unit is transferred/withdrawn, a clearance certificate issued by the legal affairs of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning must be provided.
- The residential address cannot be changed from owned property to a rented address unless there is proof of rental, sale, or an issued building or renovation permit from the municipality.
- Renting a residential address, the electricity account must be activated under the tenant or providing an address certificate issued by the municipality if the lease agreement mentioned that electricity account under landlord, ensuring that the landlord is not registered at the same address in the ID and population registry system.
- If an individual does not have a residential address and wishes to update their address to one of their relatives, a non-objection accommodation declaration must be signed by the owner of the address according to specific requirements.
Updating information of marriage & divorce
- Marriage\divorce information is recorded in the system automatically by the Ministry of Justice if both parties have personal numbers.
- If one of the parties does not have a personal number, a marriage\divorce certificate issued by the Ministry of Justice must be provided.
- If the marriage certificate is issued from outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, a certified marriage contract from the Ministry of Justice must be submitted.
- If the divorce contract was issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, a certificate of divorce verification must be issued by the Ministry of Justice.

Updating widowhood information
- Shari'ah obligation or proof of widowhood certificate widowhood must be provided from the Ministry of Justice.

Service Processes
- Go to one of the locations where self-service devices are available to Update ID card chip.
- Insert the ID card in the designated place.
- Follow the instructions showing on the screen and select the desired service.
- Pay the fees through the payment machine to complete the transaction.
- The ID chip data must be checked after the update it on the self-service device.
- Submit the update request by selecting the desired E- service, such as "Update ID Card Residential Address" or "Update Civil Record Details" or "Head of Household Relation Transfer" and others.
- Fill out the required details and attach the required document.
- Transfer the request to the relevant department to be reviewed and processed.
- The request can be tracked through the “Edit and Request Status Enquiry” service.
- You can visit one of the ID card service centers by making an appointment in advance.
- An appointment can be made through the National Portal of the Kingdom of Bahrain via "ID Card Appointments Booking and Enquiry" service, or by calling 80008001.
- Go to the selected service center according to the date and time of the scheduled appointment.
- Take a waiting number
- Proceed to the desk based on the waiting number.
- Processing the request by the specialist to check all procedures and requirements.
- If the request is approved, the fees will be paid, and the transaction will be completed.
- If the requirements and procedures are not met, the specialist employee will inform the client about required procedures or documents.
