Vehicle Impoundment or Wheel Locking

Part of the administrative measures taken by the General Directorate of Traffic, involving the impoundment of vehicles or wheel clamping in accordance with the provisions of the Traffic Law and the ministerial decree issued in this regard.

Service Conditions

  • Settle all fines, violations, and accidents (if any)
  • Ensure vehicle meets safety, durability, and environmental standards
  • Pay applicable fees

Required Attachments

  • Vehicle release authorization issued by the designated division at the General Directorate of Traffic after the vehicle impoundment period has ended.
  • Proof of identity of the vehicle owner, responsible party, or possessor, or an official authorization issued by the vehicle owner to allow the authorized person to retrieve the vehicle.
  • Vehicle ownership certificate.

  • Minister of Interior Decision No. (154) of 2015 issuing the executive regulations for the Traffic Law promulgated by Law No. (23) 2014, and its amendments
  • Ministerial Resolution No. (309) of 1998 regarding the replacement of fees for the services of the General Directorate of Traffic

Fees

  • 3 BHD : The impoundment fee is calculated as 3 BHD per day or part thereof for the first 30 days, and 1 BHD for each additional day, starting from the fifth day after the end of the impoundment period.
  • 1 BHD : The impoundment fee is calculated as 3 BHD per day or part thereof for the first 30 days, and 1 BHD for each additional day, starting from the fifth day after the end of the impoundment period.
  • 15 BHD : If the vehicle is brought in by the General Directorate of Traffic's tow truck, an additional fee of 15 BHD is applied.
