Issuance of Permits for Various Road Works

Road Works Permit: For example, but not limited to (road maintenance and development, drainage maintenance, infrastructure utility installation) - Emergency Works Permit: For example, but not limited to (pipe maintenance, cable maintenance, pothole repair, and other urgent non-deferrable works) - Off-Street Work Permit: For example, but not limited to (road construction, water pipeline installation, electrical and cable network installations, etc.) - Special Works Permits: For example, but not limited to (construction, demolition, concrete pouring, prefabricated roof installation, and maintenance works)

Service Conditions

Approval and permit from the Roads Directorate at the Ministry of Works and other required approvals depending on the location (for emergency works if applicable).
Municipal approval for off-street work requests (Way Leaves).
Notification from the government entity for emergency works.
Settlement of all fines, violations, and traffic accidents (if any).

Required Attachments

Personal ID card
A letter from the applicant, whether a company, institution, or individual (for private work requests), stating the work details, location, and responsible person.
Site map and traffic diversion plans showing the work location, road closure method, and traffic signs in place during the closure.

Ministerial Resolution No. (309) of 1998 regarding the replacement of fees for the services of the General Directorate of Traffic

Fees

6 BHD : Prescribed fee for issuing certificates of various types
3 BHD : If the work requires the arrangement of traffic officers, a fee of 3 BHD per officer per hour is charged for traffic arrangements, if necessary (excluding off-street works).

Book an appointment through the National Appointment System application.
Go to the General Directorate of Traffic – Traffic Engineering Branch, ensuring the required documents are provided.
Verify that all required documents and conditions are met.
Pay the prescribed fees.
