Initial Vehicle Registration - Used Vehicles Imported from Abroad

Service Conditions

• Civil liability insurance arising from accidents must cover the validity period of the registration certificate.
• Customs clearance certificate.
• Obtaining the necessary approvals from the relevant official authorities-in cases where opening a file is required for certain classifications-(Example: Approval from the Ministry of Transport to open a file for public transportation vehicles, along with fulfilling all technical requirements for the vehicle).

4. Attach one of the following certificates depending on the country of origin:

• Final export certificate (if the vehicle is coming from the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, or Oman), or attach a clearance certificate and vehicle ownership certificate if the vehicle is arriving with Gulf plates.
• Attach one of these two certificates (final export, clearance certificate, detailed report) (if the vehicle is coming from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).
• Certificate of Title and Bill of Lading for vehicles coming from other countries.
• In case of importing a semi-trailer, proof of the year of manufacture must be provided, to be attached with the vehicle record, and the year of manufacture must be stated in the ownership certificate.
• Ownership or registration certificate (European Union).
• Letter from the official governmental authority (Arab countries).
• Attach the certificate of origin, free zone letter, sales contract, and authentication of documents at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Jordanian Embassy (for semi-trailers coming from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan).
• Attach the invoice along with the certificate of origin in the case of a new semi-trailer.

Required Attachments

• Valid ID card
• Fill and sign licensing division form by owner. For companies and institutions: stamp the form and attach the commercial registration. Subject to technical inspection review
• Ministry of Transportation approvals for public transport, taxi, and on-call taxi vehicles

• Ministerial Resolution No. (309) of 1998 regarding the replacement of fees for the services of the General Directorate of Traffic

Fees

• From 29.500 BHD to 1135 : depends on weight, year, and classification

File Opening Fee:

• 5 : Vehicle or motorcycle - not older than 5 years.
• 1000 : Private vehicles or private passenger vehicles or motorcycles over 5 years old
• 1000 : Private transport, joint private, special use vehicles, or tractors over 10 years old
• 100 : For first-time classic (vintage) registration number

Vehicle Inspection Fee:

• 5 : Internal inspection (5 BHD) per time.
• 15 : External inspection (15 BHD) per time.
• 6 : Inspection and ownership certificate fee

Annual Vehicle Registration Fee by Weight:

• 15 : Empty weight not exceeding 2.5 tons
• 30 : Empty weight over 2.5 tons and not exceeding 5 tons
• 36 : Empty weight over 5 tons and not exceeding 7 tons
• 60 : Empty weight over 7 tons and not exceeding 11 tons
• 65 : Empty weight over 11 tons
• 10 : Motorcycle

The fee for issuing a single copy of a vehicle plate:

• 3.500 : Private registration number
• 3.500 : Motorcycle registration number
• 5 : Public transport registration number
• 5 : Private transport registration number
• 12 : Classic category (A) or (B) plate
• 12 : Any other type of plate
• 1.5 BHD To 45 : For rental of test plates, the fee is 1.500 BHD per day, with a maximum of 45 BHD.
