Expatriate Employee Absence from Work Notification

Through this service, employers can notify Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) if any of their expatriate employees has been absent from work for a period of 15 days or more without any justifiable reason.

Service Conditions

  • The work permit must be valid for at least 15 days after the application’s admin fees is paid.
  • The establishment must be active.
  • The establishment's CR (Commercial Registration) must be valid.
  • The expatriate employee must be absent for 15 days or more without any justifiable reason or notice to the employer.
  • The establishment should not have an offence registered at LMRA or any official entities.
  • Lack of administrative procedures (Expatriate employee is medically unfit).
  • The expatriate employee must be present within the Kingdom of Bahrain (If the expatriate employee's entry data in the system is incorrect, please update the data at the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA)).
  • The reported expatriate employee will be recorded in the Bahrainization record of the employer until he leaves the country or is being transferred to another employer.
  • The reported expatriate employee is not allowed to be transferred to another employer or employed again to work with the same employer after formally approving the notification by the LMRA.
  • The notice cannot be cancelled once the Absence from Work request is approved.
  • If the expatriate employee is absent from work upon arrival at the airport, you will need to first report it to the airport police station and attach proof of the absence from work card.

  • All questions mentioned in the form must be answered.

Proof of the employee last working days (attendance for the last 3 months) and proof of salary payment (salary slip for the last 3 months)

Service Processes

  • Download the Employee Absence from Work Notification in Violation of the Terms in the Work Permit (Except Domestic Employees) PDF (1.23 MB) form and fill in the required information.
  • Visit the client services counter at LMRA, and fill out the Absence from Work form, the form should be filled in by the commercial registration owner and the responsible or authorized person for the company, such as a human resources manager (holding an authorization letter signed by the responsible person).
  • Once the absence from work application is submitted, the service employee will inform the client that he/ she will need to pay the admin fees (Either by using the Point of Sale (POS) machine or the client can pay via his/ her E-Key on Expat Management System (EMS), or by visiting one of the accredited banks).
  • Upon completion of the admin fees payment, the application will automatically be transferred for verification.
  • The application will be verified within 11 working days.
  • If the application was approved, the responsible person must visit the client services counters to receive the absence from work notification. Additionally, it will be sent by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) electronically.
