Work Permit Renewal
Through this service, employers can submit a request for renewing the employee's work permit before it expires. In case the employee has dependants, their permits will be renewed upon the employee's renewal.
Service Conditions
- The applicant must be registered in the system as a responsible or authorized person in LMRA on the establishment.
- The work permit for expatriate employee can be renewed while the employee is inside or outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. If the employee is outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, the permit must be valid.
- Permits can be renewed for 6 months, 1 year or 2 years as per the employer's request, with the payment of (BHD 52.5 for 6 months, BHD 105 for 1 year permit and BHD 210 for 2 years permit).
- Basic Health Care fees for work permit Renewal (BHD 45 for 6 months, BHD 90 for 1 year permit and BHD 180 for 2 years permit).
- Dependants permits fees are BHD 90 for renewal regardless of the primary expatriate's work permit period.
- The Permit can be renewed 6 months prior to expiry (if the existing permit was for 2 years).
- The Permit can be renewed 6 months prior to expiry (if the existing permit was for 1 year).
- The Permit can be renewed 5 months prior to expiry (if the existing permit was for 6 months).
- Passport must be valid for at least two months.
Legal Regulations
- Resolution No. (26) of 2008 regarding the fees imposed on employers to obtain and renew work permits and residence permits for family members of the expatriate worker and the expatriate employer and its amendments.

Service Processes
- Visit one of the accredited banks to apply for the permit renewal or apply for the service via LMRA's Expat Management System (EMS).
- If applied via the Expat Management System (EMS), follow the instructions and enter the required information, then click on submit renewal.
- Once the renewal application is submitted, a notification will appear (Application has been successfully submitted, kindly pay the admin fees, as the application will be canceled if the fees are not paid before the invoice due date).
- Kindly pay the admin fees followed by the payment of the renewal fees either via the Expat Management System (EMS) or by visiting one of the accredited banks.
- The renewal will be validated immediately upon completion of the fee’s payment. If, everything is as per the regulations, your permit will be printed on the same day.
- Print the resident permit by visiting Bahrain's National Portal or by contacting Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA).
