Review and Approval of Traffic Studies (TIA/TIS)

This service allows the prequalified traffic studies consultant firms approved by UPDA to submit Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) and Traffic Impact Statements (TIS) reports, these reports are either approved or modifications are requested based on technical review, if any. The main objective is to evaluate the impact of traffic generated by the major development projects on the capacity of the road network and major intersections. Additionally, it identifies the need for any proposed improvements to the road infrastructure and ensures that parking requirements and internal traffic circulation for all expected vehicle types within the project are met. Traffic studies are submitted through the UPDA's official website or via email at ask@upda.gov.bh. • The preparation of traffic studies requires adherence to the Traffic Impact Study Guide to ensure that the study aligns with the vision of UPDA and the relevant entities. • The project should be preliminarily approved with a condition of preparing a traffic study and it must be prepared by a pre-qualified consultant through UPDA. • Traffic data collection for traffic studies to be conducted by pre-qualified consultancy firms.
