Full time sports leave
A leave granted to eligible athletes to prepare or participate in Gulf, Arab, regional, continental or international sports games and championships in which they represent the kingdom of Bahrain at the level of national teams, clubs or sports federations for a period not exceeding the period of preparation and participation.
Service Conditions
- Providing all documents accompanying the application
Required Attachments
- Letter requesting a sports leave from the national club or the concerned sports federation.
- The application form for full-time sports leave meets the conditions.
- Technical and financial approval by the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
Legal Regulations
- Law No. (27) of 2010 on full-time during the period of preparation and participation in sports by Article (1, 2, 3, 4, 6).
- Decree No. (146) of 2019 on the Executive Regulations of Law No. (27) of 2010 regarding full-time during the period of preparation and participation in sports.
- Resolution No. (155) of 2020 with respect to the regulations governing the rules and procedures for obtaining special leave for preparation and participation in athletics and other sporting championships, and amendments thereto.
- Resolution No. (15) of 2014, issuing the unified statute of the national sports federations and related amendments. Decree-law No. (21) of 1989, announcing the Law of Associations, Social and Cultural Clubs, Special Committees Working in the Field of Youth and Sports, and Private Foundations, and its amendments.
- Publishing Decree No. 32 of 2020 regarding the organization of the registration register of sports federations at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in the Official Gazette.
- Publishing Decisions No. 44 to 70 regarding the publication of the decision to register the re-registration of federations at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in the Official Gazette.

Service Processes
- Receive the application by e-mail (sports sabbatical leave system) within a period of not less than one month from the date of participation.
- Review the application and ensure that all data is complete and pay the fees charged.
- Ensure that the application form is complete with all data and fees, and in the event that the application matches the system, work will be done to prepare the application. (In case of amendment, the applicant will be notified)
- Final approval of the application
- Preparing the leave and sending it to the competent authority to sign the license, at the level of minister / undersecretary / assistant undersecretary / director.
- Notify the applicant of approval or rejection.
