Work Permit Renewal

Service Conditions

• The request must be submitted in the system by the responsible or authorized person.
• The employee must be present in the Kingdom of Bahrain at the time of submitting the renewal application
• Permits can be renewed for 6 months, 1 year or 2 years as per the business owner’s request.
• Dependants will be renewed with the Primary workers renewal and will be given the same permit period as the primary workers .
• The Permit can be renewed 6 months prior to expiry (if the existing permit is for 2 years).
• The Permit can be renewed 6 months prior to expiry (if the existing permit is for 1 year)
• The Permit can be renewed 5 months prior to expiry (if the existing permit is for 6 months).
• Passport must be valid for at least two months.
• Visit one of the accredited banks to apply for the permit renewal or to apply for the service through LMRA’s EMS system.
• If applied through the EMS system, fill in the required fields and pay the fees online and the renewal will be validated immediately after the submission. The permit will be printed on the same day if the information is correct.
• Print the Resident permit by visiting Bahrain’s National Portal or by contacting Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA)

Legal Regulations

• Resolution No. (26) of 2008 regarding the fees imposed on employers to obtain and renew work permits and residence permits for family members of the expatriate worker and the expatriate employer and its amendments.

Fees

• 50 BD : for 6 months permit
• 100 BD : for 1 year permit
• 200 BD : for 2 years permit
• 90 BD : renewal fee for dependents’ permits

Basic Health Care fees for renewing work permits

• 36 BD : for 6 months permit
• 144 BD : for 2 years permit
• 72 BD : for 1 year permit
