Traffic Diversions Request

This service is provided by the Ministry of Works to Individuals, Businesses, and Governmental Entities requesting for traffic diversions at work sites or to extend the duration of an existing traffic diversion.

Required Attachments

  • Other relevant authorities approval according to the nature of the work
  • An official request letter addressed to Chief, Traffic Engineer Section
  • Copy of Wayleave Clearance or Emergency letter or Building permit
  • Traffic diversion plan and location map
  • Traffic Signs Inspection for Traffic Diversion Scheme signed by traffic diversion inspector and contractor

Process Time

  • 20 Working days : One week for small projects, Two weeks for medium projects, One-month period for large and strategic projects

Service Processes

  • The applicant: Visit the Ministry of Works website to fill out and submit the application form for issuing a work permit to block one or more lanes or divert traffic, attaching all required documents
  • Ministry of Works: Send a reference number to the applicant via the website
  • Ministry of Works: Ensure all required documents and information are complete. In case the submitted documents and information are incomplete, the applicant will be notified by telephone or through the system to complete the missing documents and information.
  • Ministry of Works: Review the application and inform the applicant with the approval or rejection through the website.
  • Ministry of Works: If approved, print the permit then approach the General Directorate of Traffic to issue the official approval.
