Accreditation of a marriage certificate issued abroad
Through this service, an applicant can receive accreditation for a marriage certificate issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain and receive an equivalent document.
Service Conditions
- Submit the form with the required documents to the email of the Sharia Procedures Department in a PDF format
- Add a Bahraini contact number for communication purposes
- To ensure the application has been submitted correctly, an email will be sent acknowledging receipt of the application
Required Attachments
- Original marriage certificate
- Copies of the Identity Cards of the spouses
- The presence of the spouses
- Both parties must hold Bahraini citizenship
- Foreign documents must be certified by the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated into Arabic.

- Article (17) of the Judicial Authority Law issued in October 2002
- Ministerial Resolution No. (1) of 2016 regarding the bylaw of marriage officers and the provisions of the attestation of documents related to personal status affairs
- Decree-Law No. (14) of 1971 regarding notarization

- Go to the website of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf https://www.moj.gov.bh and access the service entitled “forms”. Choose the relevant application form
- Print the application form, fill it out by hand, and attach the required documents
- Send the form and documents to the email of the Sharia Procedures Department : shareya.prosedures@MOJ.GOV.BH
- The applicant is contacted by phone to set a date to attend the court, in order for the process to be approved by the relevant judge
