Request for permission to marry outside the Kingdom of Bahrain
This service involves the issuance of a permit for a male citizen to marry outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, including proof of marital status.
Service Conditions
- Foreign documents must be certified by the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all documents must be translated into Arabic.
Required Attachments
- Copy of the applicant’s Identity Card
- In-person attendance of the applicant
- Applicant must be Bahraini
- Original work approval for members of the Bahrain Defence Force or other security agencies

Service Processes
- Go to the website of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf https://www.moj.gov.bh and access the service entitled “forms”. Choose the relevant application form
- Print the form, fill it out by hand, and attach the required documents
- Send the form and documents to the email of the Sharia Procedures Department (Obligations): shareya.prosedures@MOJ.GOV.BH
- The applicant is contacted by phone to set a date to attend the court, in order for the process to be approved by the relevant judge
- Submit the form with the required documents to the email of the Sharia Procedures Department in a PDF format
- Add a Bahraini contact number for communication purposes
- To ensure the application has been submitted correctly, an email will be sent acknowledging receipt of the application
