Accreditation of marriage certificates issued abroad

This service includes the authentication of Sharia marriage contracts issued outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, by obtaining the attestation of the competent Sharia judge through stamping and signing the original contract, and subsequently entering it into the system.

Required Attachments

  • Original marriage contract
  • Copies of the Identity Cards of the spouses
  • Foreign documents must be certified by the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated into Arabic.
  • Fill out the application form

  • Go to the website of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf https://www.moj.gov.bh and access the service entitled “forms”. Choose the relevant application form
  • Print the application form, fill it out by hand, and attach the required documents
  • In-person submission of the application by one of the spouses to the Sharia Procedures Section
