Obtain ownership of a vehicle registration plate number

Obtain ownership of a vehicle registration plate number that is used on a vehicle or retained.

Required Attachments

  • Valid Identity Card
  • Vehicle registration plate number ownership request

Vehicle registration plate numbers are obtained through the following cases:

  • Unique vehicle registration plate number purchased through a public or online auction
  • Semi-unique vehicle registration plate number purchased through a direct sale or online auction
  • Vehicle registration plate number assigned to the person by the General Directorate of Traffic after paying the required ownership fee (BD 100)
  • The person who owns the vehicle registration plate number has the right to put the number on their private vehicle, or to request the transfer of the number to another vehicle owned by them after paying the required fees for this procedure (and without prejudice to any procedures required by the Traffic Law or its executive regulations)

  • Ministerial Resolution No. (47) of 2017 regarding the sale of unique and semi-unique vehicle registration plate numbers for vehicles in the Kingdom of Bahrain
  • Ministerial Resolution No. (96) of 2017 regarding the adoption of a guide to procedures for selling unique and semi-unique vehicle registration plate numbers

  • Book an appointment through the Skiplino app and attend the General Directorate of Traffic building or an external branch in person

Electronically through the e-government website or the traffic application:
  • Access the e-service via the verification factors, ensure the necessary conditions are met, pay the fees, and obtain ownership of the vehicle registration plate number
