Initial Vehicle Registration - New Vehicles from Dealerships or Retail Showrooms

Register new vehicles purchased from authorized dealerships or retail showrooms in the Kingdom of Bahrain

Service Conditions

  • Civil liability insurance covering the validity period of the registration certificate
  • Obtain the necessary approvals from the relevant official authorities

Required Attachments

  • Valid ID card
  • Fill out the agency form signed by the vehicle owner; for companies or institutions, the form must be stamped and accompanied by a copy of the commercial registration
  • If the vehicle is sold in installments, attach a bank document confirming this

  • Law No. (23) of 2014 issuing the Traffic Law
  • Minister of Interior Decision No. (154) of 2015 issuing the executive regulations for the Traffic Law promulgated by Law No. (23) 2014, and its amendments.
  • Ministerial Resolution No. (309) of 1998 regarding the replacement of fees for the services of the General Directorate of Traffic

Fees

  • From 24.5 BHD To 86 : Depending on the vehicle weight

Fee Details

  • 5 : vehicle or motorcycle
  • 6 : Ownership certificate issuance fee

Annual registration fee based on vehicle weight:

  • 15 : Empty weight not exceeding 2.5 tons
  • 30 : Empty weight over 2.5 tons and not exceeding 5 tons
  • 36 : Empty weight over 5 tons and not exceeding 7 tons
  • 60 : Empty weight over 7 tons and not exceeding 11 tons
  • 65 : Empty weight over 11 tons
  • 10 : Motorcycle

  • Collect the license plates from Bahrain Logistics Company at the General Directorate of Traffic headquarters

Partial E-Service:
  • Vehicle registration through dealerships or retail showrooms
  • Documents delivered by the dealership representative to the Vehicle Licensing Division at General Directorate of Traffic for review
  • Collect license plates from Bahrain Logistics Company at General Directorate of Traffic headquarters
