Re-Export Endangered Species (CITES)

This service is intended for the Re-Export of endangered species (import/ export/ re-export) which are included in the CITES Agreement (parrots, falcons, deer, lute oil, rare animal skins, etc.), while other domesticated species are within the domain of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.

Service Conditions

  • The trade in live species for personal purposes should not exceed two specimens except those which are exempted with a permit
  • Having an active commercial register (for commercial use) in the Kingdom of Bahrain
  • This service is only for the species that are covered by CITES which is listed in one of the CITES Appendices
  • The importer or exporter must have a commercial registation if the purpose of use is commercial
  • To complete the procedures for exporting living specimens, a health import permit must be issued from the Veterinary Department of Agriculture and Marine Resources
  • The shipment of living organisms shall be taken in compliance with the laws of the International Air Transport Association (IATA)

Regarding agarwood

  • Personal import or export is excluded from the CITES certificate if it does not exceed 1 kg.
  • Oud oil should not exceed 24 ml.

  • Law No. 5 of 2021 regulating and controlling international trade in endangered species of wild plant and animal groups
  • Ministerial Order No. (4) of 2021 regarding the fees of the licenses and services provided by the Supreme Council for Environment

Service Processes

  • Fill the applicant’s data, and check the validity of the e-mail
  • Fill the data of the exporting to entity
  • Fill the details of the sample (the name of the animal or plant or parts of them), and more than one sample can be added to one application, bearing in mind that if it is for a personal purpose, only two samples are allowed to be imported
  • Attach the required documents
