Licensing of new health institutions

Granting of licences to new health institutions that provide health services in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Required Attachments

  • Application form
  • Project proposal
  • Personal information of the authorized person
  • Engineering maps
  • Copy of Identity Card
  • Pay the fee
  • License to practise the profession in case of applying to open a private clinic
  • Approval from the Supreme Council for Environment if a radiology service is required
  • A list of medical supplies that will be used in the institution
  • The institution is given six months after the final approval to submit the second and third documents, as well as to ensure the institution is fully operational.

  • Ministerial Resolution No. (2) of 2019 regarding technical, engineering and safety requirements in health facilities
  • Law No. (21) of 2015 regarding health facilities

  • 50 BD : Application fee
  • 50 BD : Preliminary approval fee
  • 2000 BD : Hospitals - Less than 50 beds
  • 2000 BD : Hospitals - From 51 to 100 beds
  • 4000 BD : Hospitals - More than 100 beds
  • 1000 BD : Medical Centers - General / Specialized Medical Centers
  • 500 BD : Medical Centers - Alternative Medicine Center
  • 300 BD : Clinics - Private clinic
  • 500 BD : Clinics - 24 hours clinic
  • 200 BD : Clinics - Health Unit
  • 400 BD : Places to practice one of the paramedical professions - Optician check-up shop
  • 300 BD : Places to practice one of the paramedical professions - Primary X-ray unit
  • 500 BD : Places to practice one of the paramedical professions - Specialized Radiology Unit
  • 700 BD : Places to practice one of the paramedical professions - Integrated radiology center
  • 400 BD : Places to practice one of the paramedical professions - Primary laboratories
  • 500 BD : laces to practice one of the paramedical professions - Specialized laboratories
  • 600 BD : Places to practice one of the paramedical professions - public laboratories
  • 700 BD : Places to practice one of the paramedical professions - Dental Center

Service Processes

  • Provide a new company Commercial Registration
  • Submit an application to the NHRA
  • Project evaluation
  • Final inspection
  • Payment of fee
  • License is issued
  • Upon the completion and passing of the final inspection by the NHRA, a final approval is issued, which takes effect after the data is verified and the prescribed fees are paid. The licence shall be active for a period of one year, starting from the date of issue.
