Licensing of local food products
The Ministry of Health grants a nutrition facts label for local food products after verifying that they meet the required health and food standards
Required Attachments
- Two colored copies of the nutrition cards (a copy shall be enclosed with the certificate and the other copy is to be kept as reference, copies are to be submitted by the merchant).
- Alternatively, a copy of the laboratory test of the values specified in the nutrition facts label (test must be conducted by an accredited laboratory

Service Processes
- A copy of the nutrition facts label is sent via email (or manually) by the merchant for examination and comment. Additionally, general nutritional regulations and requirements for packaged food are sent to the merchant to enable them to familiarize themselves with the most important regulations to design their own labels (no more than 6 labels for each factory per month)
- Two printed copies (clearly handwritten) are to be enclosed with the lab test of the nutrition values (issued from an accredited lab as requested by the Nutrition Section). Merchant is to make the relevant amendments highlighted by the Nutrition Section.
- A report including remarks regarding the nutrition facts label is prepared. A copy of the label with the lab tests enclosed is sent to the secretary office. These documents are to be sent to the Nutrition Section and signed by chief of the section. The other copy is kept in a confidential file
- Examination of the nutrition facts label by the Nutrition Section lasts for 3-6 weeks
- After receiving the nutrition report with any relevant notes, the merchant will be contacted and the notes are sent for modification. Once the necessary changes have been implemented, the merchant sends both reports (the modified and the previous report) to the Nutrition Section
- The merchant will be contacted after the approval of the nutrition facts label for printing
