Provision of prosthetic devices and aids for people with disabilities

Provide prosthetic devices for people with disabilities in 2011, by examining requests in a special committee. The committee will include officials and specialists from the Ministry as well as an occupational therapist from the Ministry of Health. Devices and aids will be provided to eligible individuals based on the criteria and requirements set by the committee.

Service Conditions

The applicant must be Bahraini
The applicant must be a registered disability allowance recipient
Family income (husband and wife) should not exceed 2,000 Bahraini dinars per month
The applicant cannot be a registered student at a government school
The applicant’s age must vary from 2 to 60 years old
The applicant must submit a medical report outlining the degree of hearing and the quality of the hearing assistive device for those who request a hearing aid. For special device requests, an occupational therapy report should be attached to indicate the need for the proposed device
For prosthetic devices available in the Ministry’s stores, the new request must be submitted two full years after the previous request. For prosthetic devices with special features, the new request must be submitted 4 years after the previous request

Required Attachments

ID card, copy of the applicants passport and the amount of his / her income in case he / she is employed.
Parents ID card and copy of passport in case the applicant is unmarried.
Spouse’s ID card and copy of passport in case the applicant is married.
Specify parents’ and spouse’s income in case they are employed.
Provide information regarding commercial registrations of the applicant and family members, if any.
Occupational therapy report approved by a consultant from a government hospital.

Resolution No. 58 of 2016 regarding the committee in charge of deciding on requests for providing prosthetic devices and aids for people with disabilities.
Law No. 74 of 2006 on the welfare, rehabilitation and employment of persons with disabilities.
