Welfare and accommodation services for children of unknown parents and children of broken families in the Child Welfare Home (Batelco Home)

Providing welfare and accommodation services for children of unknown parents and children of broken families in the Child Welfare Home (Batelco Home) and securing all essential services for them, in addition to the fostering of children by Bahraini families.

Service Conditions

  • Receipt of a transfer or a report from a police station or the Ministry of Interior stating that the unidentified child has been found.
  • Coordination with hospitals to conduct comprehensive examinations of the child, to ascertain whether the child suffers from any hereditary or infectious diseases, disabilities or deviant behaviors before entering the home.
  • Follow up with the hospital to review the results of the examinations and to ensure that they are all the necessary medical examinations and that the child is free of the diseases mentioned in Clause (2).
  • Include all medical papers and reports, and send them to the Chairman of the Board of Directors or his representative, to certify the official receipt of the child and his placement in the home.
  • Receiving the child from the hospital, and notifying the Ministry of receiving a new child in the home

Required Attachments

  • Committal order from the Public Prosecution Office or from the Juvenile Court
  • Report from the police station which handled the incident in which the child was involved
  • Birth certificates, if any
  • ID card, if available
  • Passport, if available
  • Medical reports

Child fostering service documents by Bahraini families

  • Submission of a written request by the family to the Social Welfare Department stating their desire to foster a child.
  • Certificate of good conduct from the Ministry of Interior
  • Submission of identification documents regarding nationality, work, monthly income, and others
  • Conducting a medical examination indicating that the spouses are free of any contagious diseases

Service Processes

  • Receive Committal order from the Public Prosecution Office or the Juvenile Court.

  • Submit a written request from the family to the Social Welfare Department stating stating their desire to foster a child.
  • The family submits all required documents, including identification documents regarding to nationality, work, monthly income, and others.
  • An interview with the fostering family by a psychological consultant.
  • Conduct a medical examination indicating that the spouses are free of any contagious diseases
  • Obtain a certificate of good conduct from the Ministry of Interior.
  • Obtain approval of custody from the family custody committee.
