A request to issue a new Domestic Workers Residence

Through this service, employers can submit a request to issue a work permit for a new domestic worker either in person or by going to the domestic workers’ office to obtain the service.

Service Conditions

  • The employer must have a number of work permits available to allow the submission of a new work permit, unless the first permit is for a Bahraini employer who is married and has a fixed income and is applying for a female maid’s permit.
  • The applicant or the domestic worker must not have any administrative notes preventing the submission of a new work permit.
  • The domestic worker must not have a valid work permit.
  • If the grace period expires, the domestic worker must obtain an extension of the grace period at the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs.
  • The nationality of the domestic worker must be among the nationalities authorized to be recruited from abroad.
  • The domestic worker must be over 18 years old.
  • In the event that the employer is a foreign national, the validity of his residence permit must be more than 6 months.
  • The validity of the passport must be more than 6 months.
  • It is subject to the terms and requirements of the chosen profession.

Required Attachments

  • Fill out the form with all the required data from both sides
  • A copy of the employer’s ID card on both sides
  • Source of income Salary certificate or for self-employed people: A mobile bank statement showing the applicant’s income for at least the last three months and copies of the record - for taxi drivers, proof of vehicle ownership and driver’s license for the first work permit, and an account statement is attached in case of applying for work permits Others - Sailors have proof of boat ownership and fishing license for the first work permit and an account statement is attached in case of applying for other work permits - for real estate and apartment owners, address cards and lease contracts are attached.
  • Copy of the domestic worker’s passport
  • A copy of the domestic worker’s ID card (if available)
  • A copy of the grace period / visitation permit (in case the domestic worker is inside the Kingdom)
  • The medical examination issued by the Association of Accredited Medical Centers for the Gulf States "GAMCA". In the event that there are no accredited medical centers in the country of the foreign worker, a unified medical examination certificate must be attached to countries that do not fall under the umbrella of the Association of Accredited Medical Centers for the Gulf Countries “JAMCA”
  • No-objection certificate from the National Health Regulatory Authority in case of applying to issue a nurse permit
  • For the foreign employer, a copy of the passport with the residence permit, provided that the residence permit is valid for a period of no less than 6 months
  • Direct issuance of a work permit through the authority in the presence of the employer or his representative (clearance office, first-degree relatives, or a Bahraini employee working for the employer)
  • A pledge of the employer’s obligations towards the domestic worker in the event of a direct submission by the employer

Issuance of work permits through employment offices:

  • The tripartite contract in case of applying through employment offices
  • Identity card data extract of the applicant, and a copy of the clearance record (for loyalists)

Legal Regulations

  • Article No. (9) of Resolution No. (4) of 2014 on the regulation of work permits for domestic workers and the like.

Fees

  • 86 BD : for a period of one year, including the fees of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Ministry of Health, Information, and e-Government Authority along with the administrative fees
  • 118 BD : for a period of two years, including the fees of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Ministry of Health, Information, and e-Government Authority along with the administrative fees
  • 60 BD : to transfer from a visitor visa to a work permit

Service Processes

  • The employer submits the application or attended the employment offices for the applicant to apply for the issuance of the permit through the expatriate Labour Management System of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority
  • Fill all the data and attach the required documents
  • The application shall be decided by the authority and the relevant authorities, and the employer shall be able to pay the fees after approval
  • If there is any difference or lack of documentation, requests will be returned for correction within 7 working days
  • In case the application is submitted by the employment agency, the employer must approve the application by entering the e-government website or by attending personally to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority or by using a self-certification feature that requires attaching two valid identities with the signature.
