Request to update the ID card chip
This service provided by the Information & eGovernment Authority, enables individuals to update their personal information within the ID card chip.
Service Conditions
- The ID card must be active and valid.
- The requested change must be limited to information that is not printed on the ID card.
- The applicant must be present in Bahrain
Required Attachments
- A document confirming the requested change to the ID card, if applicable.
Legal Regulations
- Resolution No. (16) for the year 2011 on amending certain provisions from Decree No. (1) for the year 2007 regarding the executive regulations of the Identity Card Law No. 46 of 2006

Service Processes
- Book an appointment via the online service
- Go to the front desk at the appointment time
- Show the required documents (if necessary) to the relevant employee
- Verify that the requirements are met through the system
- Pay the service fees
- Processing of the application, updating the ID card chip and delivering it to the applicant
- Access the eService
- Specify the type of update
- Attach the required document and submit the request
- Transfer the request to the relevant employee to be processed
- The applicant is directed to the self-service Kiosk
- Pay the required fees and update the ID card chip information
- Go to the self-service platforms and insert the ID card
- Verify that the requirements are met and retrieve the updated data
- Agree to update and pay service fees
- The updating process of the ID card chip is finalized and the card can be retrieved from the self-service platform
- Go to the self-service Kiosk and insert the ID card
- Verify that the requirements are met and retrieve the updated data
- Agree on the update and pay the service fees
- Update the ID card chip and collect the card through the self-service kiosk
