Request to update the ID card chip
This service is provided by the Information and eGovernment Authority for individuals wishing to update their personal information on their ID card chip
Service Conditions
- To hold an active and valid Identity Card
- The desired change must be from the information not printed on the identity card
- The person must be present in Bahrain
Required Attachments
- A document proving the change to be made to the ID card (if necessary)
Legal Regulations
- Resolution No. (16) for the year 2011 on amending certain provisions from Decree No. (1) for the year 2007 regarding the executive regulations of the Identity Card Law No. 46 of 2006
Fees
- 1 BD : A 50% discount fee is applicable to Bahrainis over 60 years old
- 1 BD : Update ID card e-chip for non-Bahrainis

Service Processes
- Book an appointment via the online service
- Go to the front desk at the appointment time
- Show the required documents (if necessary) to the relevant employee
- Verify that the requirements are met through the e-system
- Pay the service fees
- Processing of the application, updating the ID card chip and delivering it to the applicant
- Enter the e-service
- Specify the type of update to be performed
- Attach the required document and submit the request
- Transfer the request to the relevant employee to be processed
- The applicant is directed to the self-service Kiosk
- Pay the required updating fees and finalize the process of updating the ID card chip information
- Go to the self-service platforms and insert the ID card
- Verify that the requirements are met and retrieve the updated data
- Agree to update and pay service fees
- The updating process of the ID card chip is finalized and the card can be retrieved from the self-service platform
- Go to the self-service Kiosk and insert the ID card
- Verify that the requirements are met and retrieve the updated data
- Agree to update and pay service fees
- Performing the process of updating the ID card chip and extracting the card from the self-service Kiosk
