The Kingdom of Bahrain has implemented the “e-cheque project” as one of the many projects towards its digital transformation and economic plans. The e-cheque was developed in cooperation with the private sector via the BENEFIT company, and in collaboration with the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) and all commercial banks in the Kingdom. Bahrain is the first country to implement the e-cheque service in the MENA Region.
The e-cheque is available for all citizens and residents through the Benefit Pay app, in which they are all can apply for an e-cheque and use it. More than 840,000 users and customers are registered as beneficiaries or issuers of electronic cheques.
