Remote work

The Bahrain government was quick to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic by enabling and regulating remote work for its employees. Thanks to the Information Communication Technology (ICT) readiness of the Bahrain government and early adoption of Cloud Computing in the public sector, the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) worked closely with other government agencies to ensure that all employees had the necessary tools and VPNs to work from home. As a result, thousands of government employees were able to transition to remote work with no downtime in government services.

• Top-ended e-government infrastructure: Bahrain has a well-developed cloud infrastructure and eGovernment readiness, which made it possible for government employees to access government systems and services from home. 
• Cultural Support: The Bahrain government has a supportive culture of innovation and collaboration, which made it easier for employees to adapt to remote work. 

The Bahrain government's effective implementation of remote work during the pandemic serves as a global model for other governments. By prioritizing digital transformation and establishing a robust e-government infrastructure, governments can facilitate remote work and ensure the uninterrupted provision of essential services during a crisis.
