Telecommunications

Bahrain’s telecommunications sector is the most liberated from any regulatory restrictions, the telecommunication sector in Bahrain has a fully liberalized telecommunication market since 2002.

Access to high-speed internet is available across the kingdom through fixed and wireless broadband lines that are accessible by all population and with conveniently affordable prices which are the lowest in the region.

Bahrain became one the first countries in the GCC & MENA region to launch 5G network, and full national 5G coverage is expected to be achieved in 2021.

The full national 5G coverage is a milestone towards enhancing the Kingdom’s readiness for next generation ICT services such as the Internet of Things, Machine-to-Machine communications and other emerging technologies.

Bahrain ranks 3rd regionally and 30th globally in Telecommunication Infrastructure Index (TII) as per United Nation eGovernment Development Index.

Aerospace

The Kingdom of Bahrain is keen to invest in space science and its diverse applications. In 2014 The National Space Science (NSSA) was established with a vision “To promote Bahrain to a position of international prominence in the field of space science for the purpose of achieving comprehensive and sustainable development”.
