Scholarships

Higher education in Bahrain has a central role to play in economic growth, investment and innovation in order face the challenges of the future. Therefore, Bahrain gives close attention to support student enrolment into higher education through facilitating number of scholarships to ensure future career development.

Scholarships by Ministry of Education (MOE)

Scholarship funding is provided by MOE to graduating high school students from both public and private schools based on a certain pre-identified criteria and guidelines. The scholarships are provided to the graduates each year to continue their university studies according to the specialization they choose.
 
For students requesting to study in the Kingdom of Bahrain, MOE will be covering the cost by paying the tuition & textbooks fees of each semester to the student directly along with a monthly allowance.
 
For the students getting scholarships abroad the Ministry also covers the tuition fees, boarding fees, and monthly allowances based on the type of scholarship which is different based on the country. 
 
There are two types of scholarships: 
1- Scholarship that provides all tuition, living expenses, and travel tickets in the case of scholarships outside the Kingdom. 
 
2- Scholarship that provides only tuition fees and according to the conditions specified by the provider. The Ministry of Education  shall clarify these conditions when the scholarship is announced.

Crown Prince International Scholarship Program

The Crown Prince International Scholarship Program  provides Bahrain's outstanding school graduates the opportunity to learn at the world-class international educational institutions. Furthermore, it provides its scholars with career development support and required training that equip them with the necessary tools to become effective future leaders who contribute to Bahrain's development, both nationally and globally.

Al-Mabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation

Al-Mabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation (“MKF“)  is a non-profit foundation registered and licensed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development  with the aim to make a social impact in the education ecosystem. MKF also aim at empowering Bahraini youth to reach their optimum potential through specialized educational programs in-line with the national strategy 2030. 

MKF Scholarship Program “Rayaat” was initiated in 2011 as a comprehensive approach to education and personal development. The program provides students with scholarships at accredited universities in the Kingdom. In addition, the program offers financial incentives, enrichment workshops, work experiences, and community service opportunities within a supportive student environment.

The Cultural Office at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Washington, D.C.

The Cultural Office at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Washington, D.C.  reports to the Directorate of Scholarships and Cultural divisions at the Ministry of Education  and other governmental agencies in the Kingdom who sponsor Bahraini students in the United States. It regularly reports to these agencies on the students' academic progress, achievements, and requests while facilitating communications between the American universities and their counterparts in the Kingdom. The Cultural Office carries out financial obligations to students under scholarship, facilitating payments for tuitions, healthcare and allowances as well as looking after their educational, cultural and social welfare while studying in the US.

Community Partnership Scholarships

Royal College of Surgeons in the Ireland Medical University of Bahrain , British University of Bahrain , Chinese Government , The University of Birmingham  are also offering scholarships for Bahraini students.  

There also other initiatives by many public and private institutions and NGO’s in Bahrain that provides educational scholarships and support to students as part of their corporate social responsibility.
