With the current  pandemic the whole world is facing and in line with directives of the Kingdom of Bahrain Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to deploy modern technologies in finding a solution to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), in cooperation with the National Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19) , worked endlessly to introduce the BeAware Bahrain app to help support national efforts in mitigating the virus spread.

About BeAware Bahrain App

Ever since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the year 2020, the Government of Bahrain, following the World Health Organization (WHO)  guidelines has been implementing a critical response plan ensuring  social distancing measures virus contact tracing, health care facility surge facilities along with clear and tailored communications to the public. The Government is leveraging various digital technologies to Government’s response plans particularly towards the virus contact tracing and tailored communications. 


BeAware Bahrain App helps the public by:

  • Providing relevant and accurate COVID-19 information from authorized sources
  • Notifying individuals when they come in close contact with suspected COVID-19 cases to help reduce infection spread
  • Providing access to eServices to help users book for vaccination, display the vaccination certificate, book an appointment for a PCR test, viewing test results, and even report status of  vaccination or recovery that happened outside the kingdom of Bahrain and much more which is updated regularly based on any developments.

BeAware Bahrain App is an initiative by the Government of Bahrain to:

  • Provide relevant and accurate information to the public at regular intervals
  • Accelerate contact tracing and identification efforts of health authorities
  • Enable close vigilance of self-isolated / quarantined individuals and monitoring of their contacts to mitigate the virus spread
  • Facilitate the scheduling of COVID-19 tests
  • Support the COVID-19 response at the national and international levels

The Government of Bahrain is committed to safeguarding the privacy of data in line with the personal data protection law  and assures that the data collected through the app is strictly only used for the sole purpose of limiting the spread of the Coronavirus  COVID-19 contact tracing by health authorities and does not reveal the personal identity of the users to any third party. Data encryption is used to protect sensitive data.

BeAware Bahrain App Features

BeAware Bahrain provides the following services:

  1. Registration: After Installing the app, users enter their ID number or passport number, and mobile number to receive an SMS Notification to enter the (OTP) number, and enable the location data option in user’s mobile settings to activate the app’s features.
  2. Language: Leaving no one behind and addressing everyone in society, the application is available in six languages (Arabic, English, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali and Persian)
  3. Contact Tracing: Alerts users to get tested once they have been in contact with a positive case.
  4. Coronavirus Test Results: View Coronavirus lab test results once released by the test center.
  5. Schedule Exit Swab Test: If the user is a home isolated case, it will help schedule an exit swab test which is conducted via drive-through facilities located at the test center without the need for individuals to leave their cars.
  6. PCR (COVID-19) Test Certificate: It enables users or travellers from the Kingdom of Bahrain to view and print their (Polymerase  Chain Reaction) PCR test certificate that is valid for one month from the last COVID-19 test.
  7. Reporting COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Result: Allows users to upload photos of their COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test results and submit positive results to relevant authorities at the Ministry of Health to receive further assistance. The Rapid Antigen Test is currently being sold at pharmacies throughout the Kingdom.
  8. Registration for Coronavirus Vaccine & booster : Enables users to register & book an appointment for taking the approved COVID-19 vaccine.
  9. Coronavirus Vaccination Certificate: Individuals can  view and print  their COVID-19 vaccination certificate after completing their vaccination schedule.
  10. View Full Vaccination Details: For viewing the full details of the vaccination with displaying the personal photo of vaccinated individuals for identification .
  11. Reporting Issues About Vaccination Status:  Allows users to report any issue related to vaccination or recovery  status  if not displayed in the app, and if vaccination or recovery certificate was taken abroad to be registered in the app.
  12. Payment for Arrivals Test: This service enables the individuals entering Bahrain to pay for their Coronavirus (COVID-19) test if they were not vaccinated.
  13. Declaration for Exiting Bahrain: This service enables Bahraini citizens to declare their responsibility for traveling abroad before leaving the country.
  14. Announcements: Provides updates from the National Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19) .
  15. Decision Lists: Provides a list of all released decisions regarding the Coronavirus from Kingdom of Bahrain officials.
  16. General Guidelines: Provides protective instructions about the Coronavirus such as methods to prevent virus spread, self-isolation instructions, and disinfection methods.
  17. Official Statistics: Provides a summary update of local cases including total tests conducted, active cases, stable cases, critical cases, discharged cases, total vaccinations taken, and deaths.
  18. Global Statistics: provides statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO) on confirmed cases, recoveries and deaths in total and for selected countries.
  19. National Coronavirus Hotline: Allows users to call the Hotline 80008100 directly from the App to get support or clarifications from dedicated agents on the virus. Users can get technical support on the app via Tawaul system (bahrain.bh/tawasul) as well.

Technologies utilized in BeAware Bahrain App

The BeAware Bahrain Mobile App, utilizing cloud and location data, enables the Government to swiftly identify, traceback and warn people who have been in contact with someone who is showing symptoms of the COVID-19 virus. The BeAware Bahrain application is available in six languages (Arabic, English, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali and Persian) to ensure that no one is left without access to the application.

The application is paired with a Bluetooth enabled, water and tamper-proof smart bracelets to augment the sharing of real-time tracking information of self-isolated individuals with health workers. The application also notifies the users in self-isolation to schedule their compulsory exit swab tests 3 days before the end of their isolation period.

Entry Procedures for the Kingdom of Bahrain During the Pandemic

​Review all instructions related to travel procedures when travelling from your country to the Kingdom of Bahrain, which are updated periodically based on the decisions of the Kingdom of Bahrain national medical task force for combatting the coronavirus.​

Travelers to the Kingdom of Bahrain who paid for Coronavirus (Covid-19) PCR test and their flight has been cancelled due to any country restrictions can contact the Ministry of Health through Tawasul System with full details and contact numbers.
