Admission Requirements

General Requirements of Admission:

  1. Applicants must hold a secondary school certificate or its equivalent with a minimum cumulative GPA of 70%
  2. Applicants must have received the secondary school certificate or its equivalent within one year.
  3. Applicants must take the aptitude test, personal interviews, or any other forms of assessment conducted by UOB (if applicable).
  4. Applicants must not be enrolled in any other higher education institution in case of admission to UOB.
  5. Students who have graduated or have been expelled from UOB are not allowed to reregister in the same program.
  6. Admission applies only to the semester for which the student has been admitted.
  7. Applicants must be physically fit.
  8. Applicants must be of good conduct.
  9. Applicants must fulfill other requirements set by competent bodies.

Important Instructions:

  1. The selection and order of programmes should correspond with the type of general secondary school certificate (literature, science, commercial, industry, unified tracks) and colleges allocated to each of them.
  2. Admission to academic programs is granted a competitive basis, based on the following criteria:
    • Fulfillment of admission requirements
    • Capacity of academic programs
  3. All documents attached with the application are the property of the University of Bahrain and the applicant may not claim them, have them transferred, or obtain copies.
  4. It is also an admission requirement that students pass the tests and/or interviews conducted by colleges, in accordance with admission requirements in some programs (if applicable).
  5. Students should have a good command of language of institution they wish to enroll in.
  6. Kindly visit the University of Bahrain website www.uob.edu.bh  to check the admission requirement, view detailed study plans, and all academic programs offered this year along with their mediums of instruction.
Exemption From Orientation Program

To be exempted from the one-semester orientation program you need to fulfill one of the following conditions:

  • Achieve a 90% or higher average grade in the General Secondary School Certificate.
  • Achieve an English language grade of 90% or higher in the General Secondary School.
  • Obtain a minimum score of 500 in TOEFL or 5.5 in IELTS.
Important Notes
  1. The date for announcing admission results will be posted on the university website and the official social media accounts of the University of Bahrain (uobedubh). Admission results will be published on the Student Information System website sis.uob.edu.bh .
  2. The admission of the students is being done only one time in the first semester of each academic year.
  3. Admission applies only to the semester for which the student has been admitted.

UOB Bookstore

Please the following instructions carefully before purchasing UOB books online for the first semester of the academic year 2022-2023, starting on 18th Aug 2022 until 31st Dec 2022:

  1. The student must have completed payments toward tuition fees and course registration.
  2. The student must refer to the course syllabus provided by the course instructor, which indicates the book, before processing the purchase.
  3. In case of online payment, please note that some books might not appear; this means one of two options, either that there isn’t a book for the course, or it is out of stock at the moment.
  4. Students are not permitted to purchase a second copy of the book during the same semester. If the student needs a second copy, he will be asked to pay an additional amount that is adjusted for external sales; this process can only be done at the UOB bookstore on campus.
  5. Once the online purchase process is completed, a link will be sent through a text message or an email to determine the most appropriate way for the student to receive the books, whether by pick-up or by home delivery.

  7. For those who selected the pick-up option, books will be received from the Sakhir campus only for all students and for all majors.
  8. The student must ensure that the books received match them with the receipt.
  9. For Sponsored students, in the event of a sponsorship that does not include book fees, students must pay from their own account (for those that received MOE, The Defense scholarships or the children of the University of Bahrain employees, etc).
  10. The following courses require a bundle of books, where the student is required to purchase the entire bundle: (Engl 135, Engl 215, Engl235, Engl331, Engl 334, Engl 336, Engl 412, Engl415, Engl 416, Engl 435, Engl 436, Pham210).

Books return policy:
The student is granted a gross return period of five days starting from the receive date (this does not include holidays) in accordance with the following conditions:

  1. The book’s condition matches its original state on the date of the purchase.
  2. The book must still be within its plastic seal (not torn), and in case of the Access Code, it must still be intact with the book.
  3. The student must provide documentation that proves withdrawal or drop of the course.
  4. In case of changing the major, the student must provide documents proving the transfer.
  5. If the student had previously bought the same book for a previous course. (In some cases where the book is assigned to two courses)
  6. No refunds can be processed past the return period stated above.
